Curtis DFW's Story

Sometimes we get urgent calls from our partner vets about a dog who needs medical care when their family can’t afford treatment. That’s how we met big, handsome Curtis in DFW.
When Curtis first came to us, he was battling demodex mange. It wasn’t pretty, but it was treatable. And look at him now, he has healed beautifully! His coat is coming back in, his skin is healthy, and most importantly, he’s feeling so good. Watching his glow-up has been nothing short of amazing.
Curtis is estimated to be around one year old and weighs about 99 pounds. He’s laid back, gentle, true to his Great Pyrenees roots, he’s a classic “leaner” happily pressing his big fluffy body into you as his way of giving hugs.
Now that he’s healthy and thriving, his playful side is shining through! He loves to play and is soaking up every bit of the good life. Curtis is ready for a fresh start and wants a family of his very own to love and protect.
Want to learn more about Curtis in the DFW area. Apply to meet him? Visit TGPR.org.

Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
Thanks for considering rescue with TGPR! We’ll start by contacting your vet to confirm that all current pets (yes, even cats!) are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, and on heartworm prevention. Next, we’ll reach out to your three personal references to get to know you better and help identify great matches for your lifestyle. If you rent, please let your landlord know we’ll be calling to confirm large dogs are allowed. Then we’ll schedule a home visit, a friendly in-person chat to see your setup and share Pyr tips! Once approved, you’ll be able to connect with fosters to find your perfect match. Approvals are good for a year! And remember: TGPR commits to our dogs for life. If anything ever changes and you can’t keep your Pyr, we’ll always take them back. Let us know if you have any questions. We’re excited to help you find your floof!
