He was surrendered to us after being hit by a car shattered his femur. He was not medically cleared for adoption for several months due to all of his surgeries, his leg was initially repaired but Cupid chose not to use the leg again and we made the decision to amputate. He's been thriving without his leg ever since!

Cupid would do best in a home with another well established dog or he could absolutely live happily as the only dog because he bonds so closely to his people. Due to being attacked a few times in a previous home by another male dog, he tends to prefer females, although he gets along just fine with the other neutral male dog in his current foster home. He gets along great with dogs that match his energy!

He has previously exhibited some resource guarding in his last home, but does just fine being fed in his kennel and his current foster mom hasn't had any problems. He's good with sharing his toys with other dogs and loves a good stuffy shred!

He loves kids, he has three human foster siblings ages 4, 5, and 8, and they are his favorite tiny humans in the world! He's spent time with kids of all ages and he adores them all!

Cupid is a higher energy guy, he was on crate rest for a long time after his surgeries so he's still working on his manners and learning how to respectfully walk on a leash, but he responds well to positive reinforcement as he's highly food motivated and so eager to learn! Cupid has been working on basic training and he's learning so quickly! He's fully kennel trained and house trained and does just fine being left alone for several hours if needed.

Cupid also does fine with cats, but he does chase if they run from him. He's living in a home with two cats that make sure to put him in his place and he's been learning how to exist peacefully with them. We haven't had any problems!

Cupid is the sweetest, snuggliest boy that just wants nothing more than to be loved by his people and to spread love and smiles everywhere he goes!

Cupid is fully vetted and up to date on prevention, he's available for adoption through Speak for the unspoken!

***PLEASE READ*** WE DO NOT RESPOND TO PETFINDER OR EMAIL INQUIRIES. Speak for the Unspoken's Adoption Policy
Before completing our online application please read the following: Our adoption process involves multiple steps and it typically takes up to 2 weeks from the time we receive your application to the time your adoption is finalized. We reserve the right to deny any application without explanation. All of our dogs and/or puppies are in foster homes. We do not schedule “Meet and Greets” without an approved application. Our Adoption Fees start at $325 per dog, $75 per cat or kitten. We can adopt an animal ‘out of state’, but you must be willing to travel to where the pet is being fostered, and transport the animal yourself after the adoption. If you have other animals (dogs/cats) in your home, they must be up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm testing and prevention (dogs), and spayed/neutered. We will verify this with your veterinarian. If your animals are not up to date, your application will be denied. Please make sure to fully complete your application; leaving questions blank or not including all requested information will delay your application. Once your online application is submitted, it can take our volunteers 5 to 7 business days to process it. If we have questions about your application, we will email you. Please make sure to add our email, adopt@speakfortheunspoken.com to your email so our messages do not end up in your spam folder! Once your application is approved by the processors, it is sent to the person fostering the dog you have applied for. They will make the decision on whether the animal that you applied for is the right fit for you and your home. They may also choose to initially contact you via email or phone. If you do not respond promptly to their email or phone call, they will move on to the next applicant. Your application will be saved on file for 1 year and will be used for all dogs you would be interested in that time-frame. No need to keep filling out applications! Adoption application approval means you are approved to adopt an animal from us, it does not mean you are necessarily approved for the animal you applied for. There may be specific circumstances in your home that do not make it a good fit for one animal, but it may be a fine fit for another.
