CupCake's Story
In mid-September, CupCake was found lying beneath a parked car, exhausted after surviving the brutal summer heat. Her tiny body was covered in ticks, her belly was swollen, and her bones were visible beneath her fragile skin.

Upon intake, we immediately treated CupCake for ticks and worms. We hoped that with care, nourishment, and rest, she would regain her strength and begin to show us her true personality. But just a few days later, it became clear she was battling something far more serious than simple exhaustion. Bloodwork confirmed our fears — CupCake was fighting for her life. She had advanced tick fever.

Her options were limited: a blood transfusion or a course of medication, hoping her body could fight the disease. We chose the latter… and CupCake proved what a fighter she truly is.

Today, she is full of energy and joy, prancing around as if she owns the place! It’s clear this is the best she has ever felt, and her happiness is contagious.

CupCake is the perfect mid-size pup. She is still building her confidence and can be timid when meeting new people, but once she knows you, she does just fine. She rides great in the car and is dog-social. We estimate she was born in April 2025, so she’s still very young.

Her future family will need to understand that she’s continuing to grow in confidence. She is kennel trained and walks beautifully on a leash. Her ideal home would include mature children and another friendly dog to help show her the ropes.

If you’re interested in adopting this sweet girl ($200 donation), please take a moment to complete our application at https://povertyspets.org/ Once received, you will be contacted within 72 hours.
