Cruz is a handsome Poodle mix with a rich dark brown coat and a small white patch on his chest.Rescued originally in Texas, he’s long-legged, expressive, and still growing into his beautiful frame.<br/><br/>He is incredibly loyal and deeply people-oriented. Cruz bonds quickly and you can feel how tuned-in he is to his humans. He loves being near you, leaning gently into pets, and checking in with those gentle big brown eyes.<br/><br/>Cruz is young and playful, with joyful bursts of energy followed by sweet, calm cuddle moments. He is very food-motivated, which makes him responsive and eager to learn. Like many adolescent dogs, he can get a little mouthy or nippy during play, but he responds well to redirection and structure. He has quickly [re]learned Sit and Place further proving how smart this big boy is. <br/><br/>Importantly, Cruz has never growled or shown aggression. He is a gentle, good-natured dog who looks to his people for guidance and settles quickly after brief excitement.<br/><br/>Fostering Cruz has truly been a pleasure. In just a couple of days, he has softened us and reminded us how grounding and joyful a dog’s presence can be. He’s already become a bit of a neighborhood celebrity — people stop to admire him on walks, and he takes it all in stride.<br/><br/>Despite being new to NYC, Cruz is not reactive to city life. He handles street noise, people, and other dogs with curiosity and composure. At home, he may briefly alert to unfamiliar sounds, but he regulates quickly and returns to calm.<br/><br/>Cruz would thrive in an active home with a bit more space and people who enjoy training and engaging with a smart, affectionate young dog. He would do best with owners who appreciate a large dog and are excited to continue helping him mature into the steady, devoted companion he’s clearly becoming.<br/><br/>He is truly the best boy, and he’s going to make the right home very lucky.
