Cruella's Story

🐾 Behind the Bark: Major & Cruella

Welcome to Behind the Bark.

Every dog has a story, and every volunteer sees a different piece of it. Behind the Bark brings those pieces together, sharing the personalities, quirks, and moments that make each of our dogs unique. Our hope is that by getting to know them beyond the kennel door, you'll see what we see every day, loving dogs waiting for the right family.

We're kicking things off with Major and Cruella, a pair that's as entertaining together as they are lovable.

Some friendships just make sense.

Major, about 61⁄2 years old, and Cruella, about 31⁄2, came to the rescue through no fault of their own after their previous owner experienced a housing situation that meant she could no longer keep them. Now, they're looking for a new home together.

Major may sound like the toughest dog in the kennel, but don't let that fool you. Open his kennel door and you'll find an incredibly sweet, easygoing dog who loves his bones, enjoys chasing toys, and is happiest simply spending time with people. Whether he's walking alongside Cruella or enjoying a walk on his own, Major is calm, relaxed, and easy to handle.

Cruella is the quiet leader of the pair. She loves attention, enjoys playing outside, and has a curious nature. She's also a wonderful walking companion. When walked together, they do great on leash. On her own, Cruella enjoys taking in her surroundings, stopping to investigate whatever catches her eye while remaining responsive on leash.

If Major is taking a little too long, Cruella has been known to grab him by the collar and march him toward the play yard. It's one of those moments that tells you everything you need to know about their relationship. Cruella is convinced she's in charge, and Major seems perfectly happy to let her be.

Together, they love wrestling, chasing toys, and simply being together. If there's a ball involved, don't be surprised if Cruella decides it belongs to her, even if Major found it first.

During walks past the cat room, both have shown curiosity without becoming overly fixated. As the cats approached them, both dogs became more avoidant, choosing to give the cats space rather than engage. While that isn't enough to call them cat-tested, it was an encouraging observation.

Because they're both large, playful dogs, they'd likely do best with room to run and wrestle together. Their size means they could accidentally knock over very small children during play, not because they're aggressive, but simply because they don't always realize how big they are.

If you're looking for twice the companionship, these two already have the friendship part figured out.

All they need now is a family to share it with.

Adoption $100 each
3365 Freeland Road, Saginaw
Adoption hours: M-Sa 1-5

Please share this duo far and wide! ❤️Animals can be seen at 3365 Freeland Road, Saginaw, MI 48604

Visit us on Facebook!

Donations can be made via paypal under Amazing Grace Animal Rescue or by check or cash!
