Cricket's Story

Sometimes in rescue we come across dogs that just about break your heart. Cricket is one of those dogs.

When she was rescued, Cricket was in horrendous shape. Severely emaciated, Cricket barely weighed thirty pounds. She was missing hair and her skin was a mess.

After much love and care, this super sweet girl is ready to find a home that will treasure her and give her a soft spot to land.

Having been severely neglected and or abused in the past, Cricket is fairly quiet and loves to be close to a human but is somewhat uninterested in dog company. While she hasn’t been around cats, she would probably ignore them as well.

Cricket loves to play with stuffed toys and is very happy to be with her foster’s six-year-old granddaughter. Cricket moves pretty slowly and likes her human to be in her sight when she ventures out. She is low energy and is good on a leash. She would probably enjoy slow walks around her neighborhood. She will go get a ball but is not very interested in returning it. She hasn’t forgotten what it was like to be hungry and will talk to you if you are slow to serve her breakfast!

Giving kisses is one of Cricket’s favorite things to do. She needs a special person to give her lots of love and attention! A quiet, calm home would be a good fit for her – she just wants to be with people who will love and value her and give her the life she has always deserved.

Cricket is around 5-6 years old and now weighs over 60 pounds.

Cricket will be available for adoption on or after, May 22, 2026

If you are interested in Cricket and are an approved adopter, please contact your Adoption Coordinator to be added to Cricket’s list. If you are a not yet approved, you can find our adoption guidelines and application at: www.savealabrescue.org

Cricket is fostered in RI
