Craiggey / Jojo's Story
General Notes | Jojo is a certified water enthusiast and always ready for her next swimming adventure, or time with her foster family! Whether it's a backyard pool, a lake day, or just splashing around in a water bowl, this happy pup is completely in her element. Jojo is a joyful, active sweetheart who is ready to bring a lifetime of fun, loyalty, and wet nose nudges to a very lucky, water-loving family. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.

Personality | According to Jojo's foster family: Jojo started out very skittish...all sounds and sudden movements caused her to flatten herself to the ground. New people caused her to cower. But she gets over it quickly and she doesn't seem to get startled anymore now that she's used to us and trusts us. As Jojo has gotten settled in her foster home, she has made her self right at home. She follows her foster mom around the house, Jojo is affectonate and already has some good training. Jojo is sweet, happy and loves playing in water.

Story | We don't know the whole story, but Jojo was found dumped on a rural Texas road where other dogs have been dumped - no food, no identification, just a dog alone to fend for herself. How could this beautiful Lab girl be dumped, we have no idea, but fortunately for Jojo a kind person found her and got her safely into rescue and a foster home in Texas. Jojo has been settling in and getting the TLC she needs to get ready to come to Colorado to be adopted.

Other Dogs | Jojo loves other dogs. Jojo's foster home has other dogs (big and small). She loves to play and another dog in the home to play with will help her get excess energy out. Plus, it's just good fun! :)

Cats | Unsure.

Children | Not currently living with children, but respectful kids should be fine.

Training | According to Jojo's foster family in Texas, Jojo is excellent in a crate. Even goes in there to nap during the day on her own with the door open. Sleeps through the night. She is potty trained. She will go to our door when she wants to go outside. She even went out the dog door by herself once after I trained her on it a bit. Rides in the car like a dream. Will just lay down and nap.

Leash | Jojo wears a harness and is good on leash.

Activity Level | She runs around (Zoomies) in the yard and she's FAST!! Jojo would love to have a doggie sibling in the home to play with and romp in the yard. Since Jojo needs to be treated for heartworms, that treatment does require a period of time with restricted/low activity, so Jojo's adopter will need to adjust activity during that time. But after treatment, Jojo can resume her play, walks, and zoomies.

Health Notes | Jojo is heartworm positive, but treatment is very successful and completely manageable with all the proper education and care. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment at one of our approved veterinarians, and has already started her treatment process. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. Don't let this stop you from adopting this sweet gal!

Thank you! |

Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $750 per dog).

Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet and greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. We will not respond to emails about animal availability or allow meet and greets without an approved adoption application on file.

Please Note | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.

We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!
