Cowboy's Story

This is our Cowboy Corgi (which we found out is actually a breed), he came into lockup and was terrified. He currently is with one of our volunteers as a foster until we can get him adopted out or transferred to a rescue. He should be named Velcro or shadow. Our volunteer foster reports he follows her wherever she goes. He loves toys, his bed and snuggle time. He does great with other dogs and pays no attention to cats. He might try to herd smaller children, we think he would be great with kids but not littles. He is scheduled to get a full work up with the vet and will be available for foster/rescue/adoption soon! Blue Island Stray Dog Project's Adoption Policy

We have potential adopters fill out an application (linked on PetFinder or please email Blueislandstrays@gmail.com). Once we get a potential adopters application, we process background checks, vet checks, and reference checks. We like to speak and get to know the adopter to ensure a good fit and set up the adopter and the dog for success! Once approved for adoption, we like to conduct home visits when possible, and if a potential adopter has another dog in the house, we make it mandatory for dog meets with the other dog; sometimes, more than once.
