COWBOY's Story
I came to the shelter as a stray, so not much is known about my history. I have a really cute face and lots of wrinkles! I can be aloof but with patience and yummy treats I can warm up. Staff always recommends slow introductions to any new people or animals in the home. I would do best in a home without kids as I am still working on being more confident and having manners in new situations, and I've had some issues with resource guarding. Please ask the front if you have anymore questions about me. INSIGHTS FROM MY FOSTERS/ADVENTURE BUDDIES: He's very friendly. He was anxious with loud noises. Liked watching TV. Thought he was a lap dog. Has very happy pleasant demeanor, was a bit anxious then would calm and become a total goofball. He just wanted all the love and belly rubs and treats. Cowboy was a fantastic companion. Once you can get him in the car (lifting or bribing) he settles in quickly. He LOVED the farm and Marla, Mojo and Cookie. He was great with all the animals he met (we were in Carrboro later) and while other dogs were coming in hot, cowboy had no reaction and let them work their issues out. He also was great when we were sitting at Dingo Dog he was patient and stuck close. He does try to counter surf, but when we said to get down he did. One thing I did learn is that he can’t swim...he was trying to check out the pond and fell in and I almost had to jump in cause that boy sank first ( scared us so much). But thankfully we got him and he shook off the water and went on his merry way. He is a good boy and was gentle with me, my daughter (they were attached) and those he met around town.
