COURTESY POST - Wesson - Richfield, WI's Story

WESSON IS A COURTESY POST AND NOT AFFILIATED WITH MIDWEST AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD RESCUE. IF INTERESTED, PLEASE REACH OUT TO THE PERSON IN THE CONTACT INFO.
----------------------------------------
Meet cuddle bug Wesson! Wesson is attention-loving, and love obsessed. He's approximately 9 years old, 55 pounds, black with tan markings, and his breed is some kind of Australian Shepherd.

Although he still has a lot of good aussie energy and enjoys a good walk or ball throw, he is settling down in his golden years and loves to chill and cuddle with his family. His favorite thing to do is to pretend he's a lap dog and fuse his body to yours in hopes of love and pets.

Wesson is happiest chilling-out at the house with his family. He doesn't like a lot of chaos or crowds. He loves to greet new visitors energetically. He would do best with an older couple that doesn't have a lot of young kids around or a family with kids 12+.

Wesson gets along very well with his dog brother. Although he's food motivated, he's good at keeping to his own food bowl and treats/bones as long as he's left to enjoy them in peace. He does like to establish his pecking order with new dogs and he is quick to correct younger ones if they step out of line. He would do best in a single dog home or with an older, more laid back dog.

Wesson is well trained, knowing all of his basic commands (though lay down is always a little tricky for him). He is good on a leash, crate and house trained. He's content to sleep and wait for his people to get home or wake up for the day. Wesson loves to explore the area, chasing after rabbits and squirrels every chance he gets (he loves herding pretty much anything smaller than him). Keeping him on a leash outside or in a fenced in yard would be ideal. Lots of mental stimulation activities are encouraged to keep him from wanting to explore and find his own entertainment.

What is Wesson seeking in his Forever Home?
? Wesson's person(s) should be active, have herding dog or similar breed experience and confidence to meet the needs and the traits of an Aussie dog
? An older couple without little kids coming over often, or a family with kids 12+ to keep his herding drive at a minimum.
? An older or more relaxed dog or a single dog house. Cats are possible if they aren't afraid of dogs.
? A fenced in yard or plans to keep him on a leash outside to prevent him exploring and chasing.
? Introductions with new people, places, and pets must be slow and monitored, especially with young children.

Wesson is ready for a loving and cuddly family to give him the best golden years he can have. His current family adores him but is not capable of giving him the attention and environment that a herding dog needs to stay out of neighborhood mischief. Other than having a few extra pounds from table scraps, he is a healthy dog who is up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, and taking heartworm and flea & tick prevention.

SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY.
