This has turned into escalating conflict. This overwhelms him which is the reason he needs a new family.

He also lives with cats, chickens, sheep and goats whom he does not bother.

He has been loving and gentle with our children (ages 10 and 13), but due to his size, we recommend a home without small children who may tug, climb, or startle him. Sarge flourishes with respectful companionship and a calm environment.

He is a gentle giant. He was quite timid when he arrived and was startled by daily noises. With patience and consistency, he has come a long way.

He now feels confident moving in and out of the house, though he prefers to spend most of his time outside and even chooses to sleep outdoors. Indoors he is quiet, well-mannered, and very calm. He has shown no food aggression and is excellent with cats (we have two that he spends time indoors with).

He walks very well on leash and enjoys watching the world go by — squirrels, passing cars, birds — he finds it all fascinating.

Pyr Rescue recommends the online teaching program Recallers at https://recallers.com or Home School the Dog at https://dogsthat.com/home-school and/or the Trust Technique at https://trust-technique.com to gain an incredible connection with your dog to set him up for success.

Know that any dog going into a new home, needs at least 3 weeks to being to feel comfortable. That is when their true character begins to show and it only gets better with time to set him up for success.

To meet Sarge, please complete our adoption application at https://www.great-pyrenees-club-of-southern-ontario.com/Dog-Adoption-Form.html.

Adoption Contribution: $400

The adoption will be directly between you and the owner.

Great Pyrenees Rescue of Southern Ontario's Adoption Policy
How We Prepare Great Pyrenees Rescue Dogs For Adoption All of our Great Pyrenees rescue dogs have been fully examined and treated for any illness, sores, etc. before they are made available for adoption. They are implanted with identity microchips. In addition, if necessary each dog is spayed or neutered before placement. All that remains to be done is to find a loving and caring home to share their love, and that is where you, the potential adopting family, can be the final ingredient. It is up to the adopter to sign on for a positive-reinforcement training program. We highly recommend Recallers to create a strong connection between them and their dog. We are a small rescue. We do our best to ensure our dogs go into the best suited homes. It all begins by completing our Great Pyrenees Adoption Form.
