Due to his breed’s natural protective instincts and a recent incident involving a stranger to him, we are looking for a specific, lower-traffic home where Deets can thrive without the stress of frequent visitors.

The Best Parts of Deets
● The Ultimate Farm Dog: He is amazing with other dogs, cats, chickens, and even lambs if you have the space, but he's been a backyard dog too!
● Athletic & Adventurous: He’s a frisbee pro, an experienced backpacker, and loves
off-leash hiking with excellent loyalty to his "pack."
● Low Maintenance Coat: Despite being long and fluffy, his fur has a "self-cleaning"
quality where dirt falls right off once it dries.
● Professional Cuddler: He thinks he’s a lap dog and will insist on morning snuggles and
tummy rubs.

Honesty & Safety Notes
Deets is a textbook Australian Shepherd: he is incredibly devoted to "his" people but can be anxious around strangers.
● The Incident: During a large, loud party, Deets was placed in a room to keep him away
from the crowd. Overstimulated by the noise, he reacted defensively when a child he
didn't know entered the room to use the restroom, resulting in a bite. The child is okay,
but we’ve realized our high-traffic home (hosting weekly community groups and frequent
friends and family travelers) is no longer the safe environment

Deets needs.
● His Pattern: He is 100% trustworthy with the children in his "inner circle" (our four boys
play rough with him daily without issue). His reactivity is strictly limited to strangers
entering his "territory" or confined spaces with unknown people. The Ideal New Home
We want Deets to be successful, so we are looking for:
● A "Low-Traffic" Household: A home that doesn't have frequent "revolving door" visitors
or large parties.
● Space to Run: Preferably a spot with some land or an active owner who can take him
on daily adventures.
● Knowledgeable Owners: Someone familiar with herding breeds who understands that
"stranger danger" is a trait to be managed, not a character flaw.
● No Small/Unknown Children: While he is great with his "own" kids, he should not be in
a position where he is confined with children he doesn't know.

The Transition
We love this dog deeply and want to help him acclimate. We are looking for an adopter willing
to:
1. Meet multiple times so he can recognize you before the move.

2. A "Transition Period" to ensure the fit is good for both you and Deets.

3. Ongoing Support: We are happy to stay in touch and help in any way possible to make
this a win for everyone including dog sitting when needed.

If you’re looking for a hiking partner who will guard your heart and never leave your side,
Deets is your boy.

If your interested please contact Nic Othart, 661-342-3393, Bend, Oregon
Othart@gmail.com
