This sweet girl came into GRRR on August 19th. This is, without a doubt, one of the most devastating cases of animal cruelty we have ever seen. <br/>This sweet dog was finally taken by animal control, after a long history of mistreatment. Given her condition, the shelter staff thought it best to euthanize. <br/>However, one of their volunteers (a friend of the rescue) let us know about this sweet pup. Obviously, she was in dire need of medical attention, and we thought she deserved a chance to fight. We wanted to help her. <br/><br/>So, off we were with her to the emergency vet. The first step was to get her blood drawn and see how poor her condition was. Miraculously, her bloodwork wasn’t bad at all, much to our shock and surprise!<br/><br/>GRRR has aptly named her ‘Courage’! Courage is now in an amazing foster home receiving medical care, medicated baths for her full body yeast infection, antibiotics, among other things. She sleeps in a fuzzy, fluffy bed to keep her comfortable. We have no words for the level of neglect and cruelty that sweet Courage has been exposed to. All we can say is that we have her, and she is safe now with us. <br/><br/>Courage is a fighter and only weighed 48 pounds when she arrived in rescue. She has shown such a desire to survive! She was being fed small amounts of food and is gradually increasing the amount. She couldn't eat too much food all at once given how thin she is. But we are hopeful she will be looking and feeling much better soon. <br/><br/>When we say your donations help with rescuing future dogs, this is what we mean.
