Cory's Story

*Cory is being fostered in the Los Angeles area.<br/><br/>Cory is a super-sweet adult male Cocker Spaniel. He’s very friendly with people, mellow, low energy, affectionate, and loves to be pet.<br/><br/>Cory has dry eye and a corneal scar on his left eye and is non visual in his right eye. But that doesn’t keep him from being a great companion, whether at lunch or on walks!<br/><br/>Since he likes to hump new dogs until he gets to know them, he’s not a good candidate for dog parks. He also has a history of marking (thus needing belly bands) when co-habitating with other dogs. His current foster mom has no other pets, and Cory is not marking in her home!<br/><br/>Cory’s from a large puppy mill in Busan, South Korea who’s flown to Los Angeles and joined Camp Cocker Rescue to help him find his new home!<br/><br/>WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT PUPPY MILL DOGS:<br/><br/>- Puppy mill dogs like Cory need very special adopters – patient people who will be understanding that potty training may be a very long learning curve.<br/><br/>- Force-free training is the only way to go; these dogs are already so fearful, and they need kindness, not a dominant alpha approach.<br/><br/>- These dogs will be extreme flight risks, so a home with no children is safer in terms of entrances and exits being 100% controlled by adults only.<br/><br/>- Most of these more timid dogs will need a home with another confident dog to help show them the way.
