Cora's Story

Hi, I'm Cora and I'm a beautiful 11 month old Lab mix puppy and I'm a rock star! I weigh 40 pounds now and I'll probably be 45 pounds when I'm full grown. I was adopted by a lovely family recently but they have a cat and we're not getting along very well so they think that I'll be much happier if I don't have to deal with the bossy kittie! They love me and want me to find a great home because I'm such a good girl and deserve to have a wonderful life. I love to run and play in the backyard and go for nice walks in the neighborhood. I'm also a smarty pants and learning my commands and how to play fetch. I get along great with everyone and light up when kiddos come in the room. I love to play and romp around with other pups too.

I can't wait for my new family to find me because I have so much love to give. I'm still a puppy so I'll do best with an active family who will take me for walks and continue to teach me all the important things I need to know to be the best grown up girl! I'd love to have a doggie sibling and am dreaming of living in a suburban neighborhood with a fully fenced in backyard. I'm totally healthy, up to date on all my vaccinations, spayed and both housebroken and crate trained. Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com or call 516-459-3509) to get lots more info on me!

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes. What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
