Cooper's Story
Meet Cooper! (And read carefully because we are looking for a special type of home for him )

Cooper is a young Giant Schnauzer puppy, estimated to be around 9–10 months old, and he is already neutered. Around 50ish lbs currently and getting bigger every day! He has been in foster care for a couple of months and is truly starting to show his personality.

Cooper is everything a Giant Schnauzer puppy is meant to be extremely intelligent, energetic, and driven. This is a working breed, originally bred to guard and problem-solve, and Cooper needs a home that understands the demands of the breed. He is not a low-energy dog and will not thrive in a home looking for a calm or low-maintenance companion.

He will do best in a home that is committed to consistent training, daily exercise, mental enrichment, and structure. Cooper needs both physical outlets and mental work to be successful. With the right guidance, he has the potential to be an incredible dog.

Cooper loves people and wants to be with his humans. He can be a little nervous at first, but he warms up quickly and becomes affectionate and playful. He does well with other dogs, but he is very energetic and playful, so he would need a dog companion that enjoys active play and can match his energy. Untested with cats.

He likes children and does well with them, but due to his size, enthusiasm, and jumping when excited, a home without babies would be best. Older kids who understand dog boundaries would be ideal.

Cooper is still working on potty training, which is understandable given that he spent time in a shelter environment. With consistency and routine, he continues to improve.

We are looking for a home that truly understands Giant Schnauzers and is willing to put in the work. Cooper is incredibly smart and eager, but he needs guidance, leadership, and ongoing training to thrive. He is not an “instant, fully trained” dog, he is a high-energy working puppy who needs time, commitment, and follow-through to become the amazing dog he’s meant to be.

If you are familiar with the Giant Schnauzer breed (or fully committed to learning) and are looking for a smart, high-energy companion to invest time and training into, Cooper could be an amazing fit.

Apply at adoptapal.org/adopt if you think you are a good fit!
Adoption fee is $500 and includes neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, and a free month of pet insurance.
