Cooper could be that dream come true pup for active, dog-crazy retirees who enjoy spending their time with a very lovable and super-smart companion. We feel that Cooper would also do well with a younger family with dog-crazy older kids who enjoy the fun and companionship that a sweet dog brings to a family. We'd like older children in Cooper's family because as a smaller guy, we want to make certain that he's always handled gently and with respect. <br/><br/>Cooper, at just about 23 lbs (anticipated full-grown of approximately 32 lbs) is the perfect portable size to go everywhere a sweet, smaller dog is welcome. Two years old is also such a great age for a dog to join their forever family. It's old enough to be beyond babyish behaviors and young enough to easily learn new training skills and to have many, many active and healthy years ahead. <br/><br/>Cooper loves all those who are kind to him. He'll happily engage in playing and once comfortable in his new home, will be entertaining in his silly antics, young energy and the huge love he wants to share with his favorite people. <br/><br/>Cooper's story is all too common. A guardian who can no longer care for a dog and hasn't made any arrangements for their care is often quick to turn to their local shelter for relinquishment. However, luck was with sweet Cooper. He was saved from the shelter due to his gorgeous looks (these photos don't do his adorable looks justice), engaging manner and very sweet and friendly personality. <br/><br/>Cooper may initially be a bit uncertain or frightened from his time spent in a shelter and on transport to Colorado but give him just a second (a belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he is happy to come closer for a welcome hug. Before you know it, Cooper has gently approached to give and receive love. The Texas rescuers quickly recognized that Cooper is a special guy. They knew that there is a family out there that will fall in love with this irresistible guy. <br/><br/>As a Cattle Dog / Border Collie mix (breed information was provided by Cooper's shelter as we don't perform DNA tests. All we know for certain is that this guy is irresistible.) We expect that Cooper (once given a sudsy bath) will have a stunning coat that is consistent with his breed mix. Current research is clear that a human grade, natural diet is the best choice for our dogs for fewer vet visits and far greater longevity. Farfel's recommends Chi Diet (chidog.com) through personal experience for the longest life for our best friends. <br/><br/>Cooper will do well with a family who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure. It can be a long hike along the gorgeous trails of Colorado, a visit with friends, a car ride or just an afternoon spending time together flopped down on the couch - all would speak to Cooper's great temperament and love of his family. Farfel's isn't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home. We'd like Cooper to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle.<br/><br/>Cooper will be up to date on his vetting / vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs.
