Cooper's Story

This adorable little man is Cooper! He is currently in foster-care with the woman that saved him from being eaten alive by fleas. He barely had any blood in his system when she got to him. He is a survivor! Here is what she has to say about him:

Cooper is a happy, funny, and affectionate dog who loves to sit on your lap and follow you around. He also knows a few commands, including "no" and "no bark."

Please note a few important details about his care:
1. House Training: He is not fully potty trained and sometimes uses puppy pads, but he is making progress. He will go potty outside if let out frequently, but someone needs to go outside with him.
2. Backward Sneeze: He experiences backward sneezing, which is common for small dogs.
3. Other Animals & Food: He gets along well with other dogs and cats, but he can be possessive of his food. To prevent issues, we crate him during feeding times.
4. Children: He has not been around children and, due to his small size, would not do well with younger children.

I had the honor of meeting Cooper the other day and he froze stiff from fear when he was handed to me. He will be timid at first because of his history, but once he knows he is safe with you, he will be in your lap and follow you everywhere! He does not like to be without his human.

If you have any questions or would like to meet little Cooper, please go to www.schspets.org and complete an adoption application. We will contact you after that! You can also call the shelter at 870-269-5200.
