We’re certain this decision was made with immense love — and just as much sadness.<br/><br/>Shelter staff instantly fell for Cooper’s sweet nature and distinguished good looks and reached out to us for help. Seniors often struggle in shelter environments, and this little guy deserved something far better: a warm lap, soft blankets, and gentle snuggles while waiting for his forever family.<br/><br/>Cooper was adopted and spent six months in a home before recently being returned. While that’s never the outcome we hope for, we believe it’s important to be fully transparent so we can find Cooper the truly right forever match.<br/><br/>The adopter shared that Cooper can sometimes be nippy with strangers if they try to pick him up suddenly, and that he’s scared of the vacuum. Also, in very typical senior Chihuahua fashion, sometimes when he pees, it shoots forward and hits his front leg. 😅 Honestly, these are all pretty classic old-man Chihuahua quirks, and we know they won’t deter the right adopter. We simply believe in giving adopters an honest picture so every adoption has the best chance of lasting forever.<br/><br/>With people Cooper knows and trusts, he is incredibly affectionate, gentle, and loving. Once he feels safe, he melts into you for kisses and cuddles and just wants to be close to his person.<br/><br/>Cooper is, quite simply, fantastic. He’s a sleek black pup weighing about 13 pounds, with a soft, velvety coat and just the right touch of silver on his face that makes him look wise, refined, and irresistibly handsome. He’s crate trained, potty trained, knows his tricks, and walks beautifully on a leash. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs, is excellent with cats, and charms nearly everyone he meets.<br/><br/>Despite his age, Cooper moves and acts like a much younger dog — spry, happy, and full of quiet joy. It’s clear he was deeply loved in his previous homes, and we are committed to finding him a family who will cherish him just as much for the rest of his days.<br/><br/>If you’re looking for a loyal companion, an expert snuggler, and a true gentleman to share your heart and home with, Cooper may just be your perfect match. 💛
