Cooper's Story

I’m Cooper! I am a three-year-old Labrador boy, and I need you to know two things about me right away: I have a LOT of energy, and I have a LOT of opinions about toys. Balls, squeakies, whatever you’ve got, I am interested, I am enthusiastic, and I will absolutely try to play fetch with you all day if you let me. I came to Homeward Bound from a shelter dealing with an overcapacity situation, and I am so glad the good people here made room for me. Now it’s time to find my people!

Here’s the thing about me, though. Underneath all that horsepower is a genuinely happy, friendly, people-loving dog. I greet everyone with a full-body wag and nothing but good intentions. I am food-motivated, too, which means training actually works on me when someone takes the time! I’ve already got “sit” in my back pocket (okay, treats were involved, but still). The nice people here have given me a Level 3, which just means I am a dog who needs a real outlet, a real plan, and real commitment, and in return, I will give you everything I’ve got.

As for other dogs, I can be okay with some of them. I tend to do my own thing rather than getting wrapped up in the social drama. Cats are unknown territory for me. And kids, I am a lot of dog, so older, sturdier kids who can roll with my energy would be ideal!

I am looking for an active family who exercises daily and genuinely loves getting out there. I need people who are physically strong enough to handle me while we are still figuring each other out, and patient enough to know that the investment pays off big. Give me the outlet, the structure, and the love, and I will be the best adventure buddy you have ever had. What do you say?
