Cooper's Story
Hi, my name is Cooper!

I’m a goofy, loving, and loyal boy looking for a calm, forever home where I can finally feel safe and understood. I’ve been at the shelter for a while now, and no one really knows why—I'm smart, cuddly, and full of love once you get to know me!

I’m not much of a barker, but I do love to "talk" to my people—my previous foster mom never quite understood what I was saying, but she always laughed and smiled. I’ve been abandoned before, so meeting new people can be scary for me. I may bark at first, but it’s just because I’m nervous. Once I trust you (especially if you bring treats), you’ll be in my pack forever.

I’d do best in a quiet home with no children, or only older kids who truly understand and respect boundaries. I need a confident dog-savvy adopter who will commit to helping me build trust and confidence through positive reinforcement and patience. I’m reactive to most people when walking, so I’ll need someone who is willing to work on this with me using calm exposure and consistency.

I’m house-trained, trustworthy outside of a crate, and love both outdoor adventures and couch snuggles. I’m also super food-motivated, so training with me is fun and easy! With structure, exercise, and love, I’ll show you just how amazing of a companion I can be.

If you’re looking for a sweet, smart, low-key best friend, I’m your guy. I just need someone to believe in me.

My adoption fee of $50 includes up-to-date vaccinations, dewormer, and heartworm/flea prevention. Plus, a microchip that is already registered to you! What more could you ask for?

If you'd like to meet me, please fill out an application on our website, PawmettoLifeline.org. Adoptions are by appointment Tuesday through Thursday, Friday and Saturday are walk in from 10-5. Please fill out the online application, and you will be contacted if you are approved and are a good fit for one of our adoptable pets.
