Cookie's Story

Meet Cookie

Cookie is a petite little Cocker Spaniel with a heart much bigger than her size. At about 8 to 10 pounds and around 3 years old, she is the kind of dog who fits perfectly into your lap and easily into your life.

Cookie has very good house training manners and understands the basics well. Like most dogs, she thrives on consistency and will need a little time to learn her new family’s routine. She is crate trained and settles nicely, which helps make transitions and daily life smoother.

She is dog friendly, kid friendly, and genuinely sweet by nature. Cookie bonds easily and would enjoy a home with another friendly dog for companionship, ideally small to medium in size.

Cookie is a very affectionate, people oriented dog who loves being part of her family’s daily life. While she can settle and be on her own when needed, her happiness truly shines when she is included, whether that means sitting nearby, curling up on the couch, or simply being in the same room as her people. She thrives on connection and closeness.

About the breed:
Cocker Spaniels are known for being gentle, loyal, and deeply connected to their families. They tend to be sensitive dogs who do best when treated as true companions rather than left on the sidelines. Cookie reflects that classic cocker temperament beautifully.

Grooming needs:
Cocker Spaniels require regular grooming to stay comfortable and healthy. Cookie will need routine brushing at home to prevent matting, along with professional grooming every 6 to 8 weeks. Regular ear cleaning is especially important for the breed to help prevent infections. With consistent care, they are a beautiful and very manageable breed.

Cookie would do best in a home that values routine, affection, and inclusion. In return, she offers loyalty, sweetness, and the kind of companionship that makes a house feel like home.

———————————————————-
The adoption donation for Cookie is $250.

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention (age appropriate).

If you would like to meet this dog, you must have an approved application on file and be willing to travel to the Boardman/Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio area for a meet and greet. All of our dogs reside in foster homes. We do not have a physical shelter.

Applications will be reviewed/approved and each dog will be placed in the home that can best meet their individual need. If you live in a residence with a Homeowner’s Association (HOA) please make sure you check that the dog you are interested in does not violate size or breed restrictions. A successful adoption is our goal. Submitting an application does not guarantee adoption of any dog.
We require you call your established veterinarian asap to schedule a wellness visit.

—————————-

Our applications can be found by clicking on the “adoption application” link at https://apaprescue.com
or directly at: https://apaprescue.com/adoption-application

Our primary form of communication is email. Please check your spam/junk folder so you don’t miss any emails! You will receive an automated email confirming we received your application. Our email is run by volunteers and is not monitored 24/7.

—————
**IMPORTANT **

Please note that when you use the “start an inquiry/introduce yourself” feature it is NOT an application to adopt. Don’t waste your time clicking on it!

Adoption donation policy effective 1/1/23:

Under a year - $350 cash/check/givebutter $360 PayPal/Venmo
Adult (1-9) - $250 cash/check/givebutter $260 PayPal/Venmo
Senior (10+) - $200 cash/check/givebutter $210 PayPal/Venmo

We apologize for the inconvenience of a service fee on digital platforms. Each year we lose hundreds of dollars for their service fees, and their fees continue to rise. Thank you for helping us cover those fees. Every dollar we receive matters and those lost dollars mean less dogs we can help.

We are a 100% volunteer group that utilizes foster homes. We do not have a shelter/building. Thank you for understanding.
