Cookie's Story
Cookie is an 8-year-old Schnauzer mix weighing about 15 pounds with a gentle heart and a loving nature. She gets along well with people and children and is indifferent to cats -she notices them but prefers to keep to herself. Cookie has a medium energy level and enjoys the simple things in life, especially soaking up the sun and curling up next to her favorite person for a nap.

Cookie's story has not been an easy one. After her owners passed away, she was left on her own and ended up having puppies on the streets. A kind person with very limited resources helped by providing food, but was unable to offer her a home. She has now been in foster care for two months, and only recently has her true personality started to emerge. Cookie is incredibly sweet and loving, but she is also very insecure and easily frightened. She does not bite, but when she feels unsafe, she is extremely skilled at finding opportunities to escape and run.

Because of her past, Cookie needs a calm, patient home with responsible adults who understand the importance of keeping her safe and secure. She is not crate trained, as crates cause her significant fear and anxiety. She does well walking on a leash and generally goes potty outside, although she has had occasional accidents. With time, patience, and consistency, Cookie continues to gain confidence every day.

For the right family, Cookie will be a devoted and affectionate companion. In return for providing her with safety and stability, you'll receive a loyal little dog who loves deeply and just wants a quiet place to finally call home.
