Conchita's Story

Meet Conchita!

Conchita is a very special girl with a gentle soul who is still learning that the world can be a safe place. She is incredibly timid and fearful, and while she may not be the dog that rushes over for cuddles right away, beneath her cautious exterior is a sweet, playful pup just waiting for someone patient enough to help her blossom. Conchita is both house-trained and crate-trained, and her crate has become her safe space - a place where she feels secure and comfortable.

She is quiet, content, and rarely barks or whines. She has shown wonderful house manners, has not had accidents in the home, and is not destructive with blankets or bedding. She has also adjusted well to her foster familys routine and learns structure quickly. Right now, Conchita lives with older, dog-savvy children and does well, but because she is still very fearful and can become overwhelmed, we feel her best fit would be a home without young children. When she gets excited and playful, she loves to chase, gets the zoomies, and can use her paws or gently mouth during play.

Conchita is not aggressive in any way and has shown no signs of aggression. Her response to fear is to freeze or flee, which makes patience, management, and understanding especially important. She is still decompressing and learning to trust, so she needs an adopter who understands that relationships with fearful dogs take time and cannot be rushed. Her ideal home would include a fully fenced yard, as loud sounds such as fireworks can be very frightening for her. Her zoomies are very important to her as well. Most importantly, Conchita needs someone willing to move at her pace, someone committed to slowly earning her trust, showing her the world gently, and celebrating the small wins along the way. And when Conchita begins to trust you? Thats when her playful, silly side shines. She loves a good game of chase, bursts into joyful zoomies, and quietly starts showing you the sweet dog shes always been inside. For the right person, helping Conchita come out of her shell will be incredibly rewarding.

Location: Niagara Falls, ON

Weight: 37 pounds

Age: 6 years old

Please visit our website www.fullcirclerescue.ca to learn more about this amazing pet and to see our other available dogs.
