Colt's Story
Introducing the latest FOBCAS Foster, Colt! Colt was signed over to the shelter a couple weeks ago due to his owners moving and not being able to find a place that accepts pets. He is a 1 1/2 year old mini schnauzer, currently 27 lbs, neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. FOBCAS pulled him from the shelter into foster care to open kennel space and he is now ready to find his new home!

While being in our care we have learned that Colt is a GREAT little dog. He is housetrained, mostly crate trained (he will protest being in the crate for a few min but settles overnight just fine), great with other dogs, cats, and kids. Colt simply does not meet a stranger, he is friendly to everyone he meets. He does great in a car as long as he is secured so he can't climb on the driver, he settles and rides happily. He could use some training on the leash, but corrects and recalls well off leash inside of our fenced in yard. He sits like a DREAM for bathing, it is very clear that he is used to being professionally groomed.

He did test positive for a tick borne disease and is currently most of the way through his antibiotic treatment for that. He is heartworm negative.

Requirements for adoption are all other animals in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccines, a fenced in yard OR an intense commitment to walking on leash to keep him safe and at home.

While we have enjoyed having him as our bonus boy the past few weeks, it's time for his next step in finding his forever!

If you are interested in Colt, please fill out an application at the link below. He is NOT at the shelter, so any calls or visits to the shelter will just be redirected to Friends of Bedford County Animal Shelter. You may also email fobcasfriends@gmail.com.

https://friendsofbedfordcountyanimalshelter.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=4144

For many more adoptable pets, please visit the Bedford County Animal Shelter's Petfinder page https://www.petfinder.com/search/pets-for-adoption/?shelter_id=VA482
