COLT's Story

MEET COLT — THE BOY EVERYONE OVERLOOKED, BUT SOMEONE WILL LOVE FOREVER!

Colt is an approximately 12-week-old Lab mix puppy as of October 2026, and sadly, he was the last of his litter left at the shelter. Why? Because he has scarring down the middle of his back. We don't know if it was caused by abuse or a reaction to flea medication given when he was too young, but what we do know is that Colt is so much more than the scars on his back.

He is a sweet, goofy, playful, clumsy little boy with a heart full of love and so much life ahead of him. He follows you everywhere, is motivated by food (he's a little on the skinny side), and plays wonderfully with other dogs. We think he could do great with children, too! Like any typical Lab puppy, he's full of puppy antics, affection, and endless potential.

Potty training is still a work in progress, but this smart boy has already learned how to use the doggie door. He just hasn't quite figured out why he's supposed to use it yet! He's growing, learning, and doing his best, just like any other puppy.

It breaks our hearts to think that something as superficial as scars could make people overlook such a wonderful little soul. Colt didn't ask for whatever happened to him. He didn't ask to be the last one waiting. And he certainly doesn't deserve to be judged by something that doesn't define who he is.

Colt deserves to be someone's first choice. He deserves a soft bed, a full belly, a family to grow up with, and people who will never make him feel unwanted. He deserves belly rubs, backyard zoomies, puppy kisses, and a lifetime of knowing he is safe, cherished, and loved exactly as he is.

Colt will likely grow into a medium-to-large-sized dog, so his future family should be ready for all the fun, training, patience, and commitment that come with raising a Lab mix puppy.

Please, look past the scars and look at the puppy underneath. Look at the little boy who just wants to follow you around, play with his friends, and finally belong to someone.

Can you be the person who sees Colt's worth when others have looked away?

He doesn't need someone to feel sorry for him. He needs someone to believe in him, love him, and give him the forever home he has been waiting for.

Let's make sure Colt's story doesn't end with being the last one chosen. Let's make it the beginning of a beautiful life filled with love.

Adoption fee includes neuter, microchip, vaccinations.
