COLLIN's Story

Meet Collin — your future shadow, your loyal companion, and a little dog with a big heart just waiting to feel safe.

At just 2 years old, this tan-and-white terrier mix is still learning that the world can be kind. Shelter life has been overwhelming for him, and he can be quite scared at first—but in just the past few days, he’s already begun to show how much he wants to trust. With a little patience and a lot of love, Collin is starting to come out of his shell, and it’s incredibly rewarding to watch.

One thing that brings him pure joy? Tennis balls. Toss one in the yard, and you’ll see a whole new side of him—playful, curious, and full of life. He also loves to explore at his own pace, happily sniffing around the play yard and taking in the world through his nose. These quiet, happy moments are where his personality really starts to shine.Collin does wonderfully with other dogs and would likely benefit from a confident canine friend. What he needs most, though, is a dedicated and active home that understands he’ll need time to adjust. He’s looking for a family that can offer patience, consistency, and encouragement as he builds confidence in a new environment. Once he bonds with you, he truly bonds—he’ll stick by your side like glue, finding comfort in your presence and forming a deep, loyal connection.

Because of his sensitive nature, a home without cats is recommended.

This sweet boy is up-to-date on all his vaccines and is available as a foster-to-adopt placement until after his neuter appointment. His adoption is fully sponsored—all he needs now is someone willing to give him that second chance.

If you believe in the quiet magic of earning a dog’s trust, if you have the patience to let a shy heart and grow, Collin is ready to meet you. If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm. My adoption fee is SPONSORED
