Collie's Story
Meet Collie!

This sweet boy spent the first part of his young life in a shelter environment, but he was lucky enough to recently move into a foster home—where he’s now beginning to learn what it means to live inside a real home with a loving family. Collie is estimated to be around 7 months old and currently weighs about 51 lbs. We anticipate he’ll be on the larger side when full-grown—likely 60+ lbs—but we can’t say for certain. His medical record lists him as an American Blue Heeler mix, and while we definitely see some Heeler traits, we also suspect there may be GSD or Aussie in the mix.

Collie’s journey began when he was found as a stray and brought to the shelter in early July. Since moving into foster care, his personality has had the chance to shine even more. Like most young pups, he’s playful, curious, and eager to bond with his people. With the right family, his gentle and joyful spirit will only continue to blossom.

Collie has the perfect balance of puppy curiosity and sweetness. He enjoys playtime, exploring, and soaking up attention. He is currently learning all the basics of home life—potty training, crate routine, manners, and general boundaries—and is making great progress. Because he didn’t have much exposure to the world before, he may still be a little unsure in new situations, but with patience and encouragement, his confidence continues to grow.

He’s very dog-friendly and would thrive with another canine companion to show him the ropes. Collie hasn’t been tested with cats yet, but given his age and adaptable nature, he may do well with proper introductions. His exposure to children has been limited, so we recommend a home with older, respectful kids who understand typical puppy behavior (including occasional mouthiness). He’ll benefit most from adopters who are committed to continued training and positive reinforcement as he matures into a well-mannered adult.

Collie will thrive in a home that offers structure, patience, and plenty of activity. Frequent potty breaks, daily exercise, and mental enrichment will help him succeed. A fenced yard is preferred but not required, and apartments or condos will be considered on a case-by-case basis. While experience with working breeds is a plus, it isn’t required—we simply encourage adopters to research the needs of active, working-type dogs before applying.

Adoption Requirements:
• Apartments/condos considered case-by-case
• Yard preferred

Health:
Collie is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and on monthly preventatives. He is too young for heartworm testing but is currently healthy and ready to go home.

Information:
All of our dogs, including Collie, are currently located in Texas and will be transported to approved adopters once their adoption is finalized. Transportation is included in the adoption fee.
Please note that breed labels are best guesses based on appearance and shelter records—we encourage adopters to focus on Collie’s personality, needs, and long-term compatibility rather than his breed mix.

MA License #479
