COLBY - ARRIVING IN MAINE MAY 2ND's Story

Two Tiny Lives, Big Futures: COLBY & JACK Are Waiting for Their Chance

In a world that can sometimes feel uncertain, there are still quiet acts of kindness that remind us how much compassion exists—often in the most unexpected places.

COLBY and JACK and Brie, three tiny pups, one girl and two tiny boys barely bigger than the hands that hold them, are part of one of those stories.

They came into our rescue as part of a small litter of three puppies—an owner surrender that, while never easy, was made of love and responsibility. Their people made the incredibly difficult but selfless decision to ensure these puppies would have everything they need: proper medical care, spay and neuter when the time is right, and most importantly, the chance to grow up in safe, loving homes.

That choice alone has changed the course of their lives.

Their parents are both just 10 pounds—dad believed to be a Dachshund/Schnauzer mix, and mom a Chihuahua mix. With that kind of lineage, it’s no surprise these boys are expected to stay small… the kind of small that fits perfectly into the curve of your arm, the kind that finds a home not just in your house, but in your lap, your routine, your heart.

Right now, they are still growing and preparing for the journey ahead. Brie has found a committed home. COLBY and JACK are scheduled to arrive on May 2, when they’ll finally make their way north and take their first steps toward the lives they were meant to have.

Until then, they wait—growing, learning, and slowly discovering the world around them.

And what sweet little souls they are. There’s something in their eyes—soft, curious, and just a little unsure—that tells you they are the kind of dogs who will bond deeply with their people. The kind who will follow you from room to room, not because they have to, but because they want to be near you. The kind who will curl up into the smallest ball beside you at the end of the day, content simply to be held.

They don’t ask for much.
Just warmth.
Just safety.
Just someone to love them.
And in return, they will give everything they have.

Puppies like COLBY and JACK don’t stay “available” for long—especially ones expected to remain this small. But finding the right home matters more than finding a fast one. A home that understands they are just babies. A home that will guide them, teach them, and give them the patience every young puppy needs as they grow into the dogs they’re meant to be.

Could you be COLBY’s Family? Please go to www.calebsopus.org for an application!

All dogs are spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. Note: Caleb's Opus is licensed to adopt in the State of Maine.
