Coffee's Story

Meet Coffee, a beautiful 7-year-old female Dutch Shepherd who has spent over 2.5 years living at a boarding facility— not because she did anything wrong, but because she was abandoned by her former trainer and never had anyone advocating for her.
Sadly, dogs who have been boarded long-term are now at risk of euthanasia, simply because no one has stepped forward to network them. Coffee is the easiest to place, and we believe she truly has a chance if the right person sees her.
About Coffee ☕
• 🐾 Breed: Dutch Shepherd
• ⚖️ Weight: ~75 lbs
• 🎂 Age: 7 years
• ✂️ Spayed & up to date on vaccines
• 🏠 House trained & kennel trained
• 🚶‍♀️ Leash trained & rides well in the car
• 🧠 Knows commands: sit, down, come, wait, stay, heel
Personality & Compatibility
• ❤️ Friendly with other dogs
• 👧 Good with kids
• 👋 Comfortable with strangers
• 🐿️ Not suitable for homes with prey animals (cats, small animals)
Coffee is calm, well-mannered, and has already done the hard work of learning how to be a great companion. Coffee is calm, well-mannered, and has already done the hard work of learning how to be a great companion. What she hasn’t had is a real home — a couch, a routine, and a person to call her own.

Pawareness Foundation, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
We advertise adoptable animals to the general public through various websites. All interests are vetted via text/phone call, and those that meet the criteria are invited to a meet and greet, including their pets and family (usually at a public place like a park). If the meet goes well, then we require an application; upon receipt of application, we run a background check and call vet references / personal references listed. If the application passes review (usually takes a couple of days) we set up the adoption. Usually, I prefer to do the home visit at the same time as the adoption, so that I can drop off the animal and help the adopters intro to the new home and family. However, if the travel is too far (as we adopt in a large radius), I do a virtual home visit with a video call and we set up a halfway meet or they come pick up the animal after the virtual home visit is completed.
