Cocoa's Story

Meet Cocoa – Professional Snuggler, Treat Enthusiast, and Certified Good Girl

Have you ever wished for a best friend whose life goal is to cuddle you as much as physically possible? Congratulations — you just found her. Meet Cocoa, a 50-lb bundle of love with the softest grey-blue coat, adorable freckles, and ears that deserve their own fan club.

Cocoa is the kind of dog who thinks every human she meets is her new best friend. Seriously — people are her FAVORITE thing. She greets everyone with a happy wiggle, sparkling eyes, and occasionally zoomies of pure joy. Once maintenance workers said hello from a ladder next door... and Cocoa celebrated with a full zoomie party. Because obviously that was the best day ever.

This smart girl is also a training superstar. She learned “down” in about 20 minutes and loves showing off fun tricks like spin, weave through legs, and high-five. If treats are involved? She’ll perform like a Broadway star. Cocoa is very food-motivated and eager to please, which makes continuing her training a breeze.

At home, Cocoa is a dream roommate:

Housetrained

Crate trained (runs in happily with a snack invitation)

Calm on leash

Low-to-medium energy — happy with a couple walks and lots of couch cuddles

And speaking of cuddles... Cocoa is what we like to call a “cuddle-a-holic.” If you’re sitting, she’d like to sit with you. If you’re laying down, she’d like to lay directly next to you. Personal space? Never heard of it.

Cocoa also seems to really enjoy other dogs. When she met a resident pup through the crate, her first instinct was to shower him with kisses. On walks she can get very excited when dogs are close by, but it’s all enthusiasm — she just wants to say hello to everyone. With proper introductions, she appears happy to have canine friends.

She has also done well meeting children (even toddlers!), though during play she can do a little gentle “corn-cobbing,” so a home with kids 6+ would be a great fit.

Cocoa does have chronic bronchitis, similar to asthma in kids, which simply means she needs a non-smoking home and daily medication to keep her breathing comfortably so she can live her long, happy life full of cuddles and snacks.

If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate, hilarious companion who will make you laugh, keep your couch warm, and remind you every single day how loved you are... Cocoa might just be your girl.

Oversized ears. Freckled nose. Endless love.
All she’s missing is a forever home.

Would you like me to also make a shorter “social media” version that tends to get more engagement and shares for rescue posts?
