Coco's Story

Hi! My name is Coco, and I'm a 61-pound Bernese Mountain Dog mix with the energy of a firework and the heart of a teddy bear!

I'm still a big ol' puppy, which means I've got a lot to learn-but don't worry, I'm super food motivated and eager to please, so training me with treats will be a breeze! I'm curious about everything-you'll often find me nose-deep in cabinets, laundry baskets, or even your snack drawer.

I come at life full force, whether it's playtime, cuddle time, or just zooming around the yard. I'm probably not the best fit for an apartment unless it comes with a built-in agility course-what I really need is space to explore and a job (or three) to keep my brain and body busy. When I get excited (which is, like, a lot), watch out-I may just plow right into you with a tail wag and a flurry of giant, slobbery kisses!

I'm incredibly affectionate and love hard. I'll lean into you for snuggles, crawl into your lap even though I'm way too big for it, and look at you with these big eyes that say, "Let's be best friends forever." But I'll be honest-if I don't have structure and things to do, I'll invent my own fun... I'm looking for a family who sees my potential and is excited to help me become the amazing adult dog I know I can be.

If you've got time, love, and plenty of chew toys-let's make some magic together!

Humane Society of The Black Hills's Adoption Policy
The adoption process may take up to one hour to complete but we’ll keep it as simple and streamlined as possible. Here are the steps when you’re considering adopting a pet: - Visit our website to see available animals or see them on-site during regular hours, seven days a week. - When you find a dog, cat or small animal you would like to spend more time with, simply call the Humane Society of the Black Hills at (605) 394-4170 for an appointment. - Occasionally, our team is able to accommodate walk-ins, but as we cannot guarantee them, it is best to call for an appointment. -During your scheduled appointment, an adoption advisor will review the animal's history with you and bring the animal to meet you for an initial visit. - A second appointment may be made for you for a variety of reasons (Ex. You have a dog at home you'd like to bring in to meet the pet next). -Once you have met a pet that you think is your perfect match and you have been approved to adopt, your adoption advisor will take you through the adoption process, and you can take your new family member home!
