When she passed away, her granddaughter lovingly kept Coco in his original home so his world wouldn't have to change all at once. But with college just around the corner, she made the heartbreaking decision to entrust him to Albert's Dog Lounge, knowing we'd help him find one more family to love him through his golden years.<br/><br/>And what a privilege that will be.<br/><br/>Coco is a 15-year-old Shih Tzu mix weighing about 15 pounds, and somehow he has mastered the art of looking adorable every second of every day. It's impossible to explain—you just have to meet him. His little smile. His sweet face. The way the tips of his ears bounce when he walks. The hopeful look he gives you from the kitchen, quietly wondering if perhaps...just perhaps...gravity might accidentally drop a snack onto the floor.<br/><br/>(He's willing to help with cleanup. Safety first.)<br/><br/>He's a gentleman of few words. In fact, he'll happily go days without saying much at all, unless he's been informed that "walkies are canceled due to weather." Then he'll politely file a formal complaint with a bark or two. Otherwise, Coco believes in conserving his energy for life's finer things: leisurely neighborhood strolls, quality naps, supervising your daily activities, and making sure you never go to the bathroom alone if the door isn't latched.<br/><br/>Privacy is overrated.<br/><br/>Coco enjoys walks of up to a mile when the weather is nice, loves greeting neighbors, and has a quiet, content personality that makes him an easy companion. He gets along well with calm dogs, happily tagging along with his foster family's beagle without feeling the need to wrestle or play. They're more like retired neighbors who enjoy taking the same morning walk together.<br/><br/>Because of arthritis, Coco appreciates a slower pace and gentle handling. He takes Dasuquin and Carprofen to help keep him comfortable and is still enjoying life to the fullest. He also has a cataract in one eye that causes some watering, so his eyes need cleaning every couple of days. It's not his favorite spa treatment, and he'll let you know with a little nip if you're not careful, but his foster has discovered that incorporating eye cleaning into bath time makes the process much easier.<br/><br/>Coco has a history of a handful of mild seizures over the years, but they have been brief and infrequent enough that he has never required medication.<br/><br/>When you're home, Coco is house-trained and politely lets you know when he'd like to go outside by giving you his famous stare before heading toward the door. Because he drinks quite a bit of water, he may occasionally wear a belly band overnight or during longer absences, but when you're around, he's an excellent little roommate.<br/><br/>His ideal home would have adults or older, respectful children who understand that senior dogs sometimes have sore spots and deserve gentle handling. He'd love another calm dog to keep him company, but he'd also be perfectly happy soaking up all the love as your one and only. He has not been around cats.<br/><br/>If Coco had a signature look, it would be a black fedora and a red bow tie. Not flashy. Just timeless. Sophisticated. The kind of little gentleman who never needs to raise his voice because his charm does all the talking.<br/><br/>At 15 years old, Coco isn't looking for adventure. He's looking for home. A soft bed you'll happily carry upstairs because it's his favorite. Someone who understands that naps are sacred. Cool autumn walks. Gentle scratches. A few treats from the kitchen.
