Coco's Story
Coco is a survivor with so much love left to give.

She was found faithfully lying beside her owner three days after he passed away. After spending a frightening night in a local shelter, she made her way into one of our foster homes, where she has been decompressing and learning that she is safe again.

Our rescue specializes in helping terminally ill people make sure their beloved pets are cared for both during their illness and after they pass. Coco is one of those very special dogs. She is 10 years old and 13 pounds.

Because of a heart murmur and pulmonary hypertension, Coco bravely underwent anesthesia for a much-needed dental surgery. Now on heart medication (about $30/month) and finally feeling better, she is bouncing back beautifully and is ready for her forever family.

Coco will need an adopter who can commit to her daily medication, routine veterinary care, and regular grooming. She’s currently living with a small dog. She started off a little sassy but quickly settled into a respectful routine, so we think she could live with another dog her size. We don’t yet know how she would do with larger dogs or cats. Truth be told, Coco is used to being the queen of the castle and would love to be the center of attention.

What her foster mom wants you to know:

Sweet, loving, and very well mannered

Perfectly house-trained — not a single accident despite major life changes

Takes her medication easily with treats

Great mobility, including stairs

Welcomes visitors and does well at the vet

Will absolutely want to be on the furniture and would love to sleep with her person

Coco is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, has had full bloodwork, an echocardiogram, and her dental.

She has survived heartbreaking loss, surgery, and huge changes in her world. Now she just needs someone to love her for the rest of her life.
