COBRA KAI's Story
Meet Cobra Kai located in NYC

Cobra Kai is a 5-year-old, 39-pound neutered male looking for one thing: a secure, loving forever home where he can finally settle in and belong.

Cobra was surrendered to the shelter due to housing issues, through no fault of his own. He previously lived with a family that included children and another dog, and he is both dog-friendly and people-friendly.

One of the best things about Cobra is how adaptable he is. Want to take a nice long walk? He’s happy to come along. Prefer a shorter stroll followed by a quiet day at home? He’s perfectly content with that too. He’s an easy, relatively low-maintenance companion who really just wants to be with his people. His previous owner especially loved how quiet he is, but we think his ability to go from playful and silly to relaxed and low-key is pretty special too.

Cobra walks well with only a mild pull on leash. He gets excited when he sees other dogs because he loves to play, but his attention is easily redirected. When he plays, Cobra is enthusiastic, energetic and loves a good game of rough-and-tumble with his canine friends. He would be happiest with a dog who enjoys a similar play style. He also has good social awareness and is respectful about knowing when another dog wants to play and when it’s time to take a break.

At home, Cobra is house-trained and has no destructive behaviors. He’s also highly food motivated, which makes him eager to learn and easy to work with. Once he trusts you, he frequently checks in with his person for guidance and reassurance and genuinely wants to know that he’s doing the right thing.

Like all dogs, Cobra has a couple of things he’d rather skip! He isn’t a fan of having his nails clipped, and bathing is something he does best with patience and positive reinforcement.

Cobra Kai has already had a family and knows what it means to be part of one. Losing his home because of circumstances beyond his control shouldn’t mean losing that feeling forever.

He’s playful when you want to play, relaxed when it’s time to settle, smart, loyal, quiet, and happiest simply being with his people. Cobra isn’t asking for much. He’s just asking for his next home to be the one he gets to keep.
