Coach Kerr's Story

Meet Coach Kerr! Coach Kerr is a goofy 10-month-old with an adventurous spirit, a playful streak, and a soft spot for scratches. Once he gets comfortable, his sweet personality shines through; whether he's racing around the play yard with zoomies, carrying around a toy, or soaking up cuddles from his favorite people.

He can be a little shy when meeting new people and may take a few moments to warm up, but patience goes a long way with him. Volunteers describe him as gentle, affectionate, and eager for attention once he trusts you. He loves spending time outside, enjoys sniffing along the trail, and has a playful side that comes out in the yard with toys and games of fetch.

Like many young dogs, Coach Kerr gets excited when it's time to head outside and may jump around in his enthusiasm. Once he gets moving, he settles into a pleasant walk and enjoys exploring at his own pace.

Coach Kerr is looking for a family that will continue building his confidence, embrace his fun-loving personality, and give him plenty of opportunities to play, explore, and be the happy young dog he is.

Coach Kerr at a Glance

Age: 10 months
Favorite Activities: Zooming around the play yard, playing with toys, going for walks, sniffing, playing fetch, and soaking up pets and ear scratches
Training: Knows "sit," enjoys walks once he settles in, and is continuing to build confidence and leash manners
Personality: Sweet, playful, affectionate, a little shy at first, energetic, and goofy

SPCA of Southwest Michigan's Adoption Policy
We have same day adoptions! You are welcome to visit our shelter anytime during our open hours. When you visit, you can either look through the kennel first or go into a meet and greet room with an available animal of interest. In the meet and greet room, we will let you spend time with the animal and read off their file. If you have a dog at home, you can bring them along with you to do a dog-to-dog meet and greet. The main question we ask is if you own or rent your home. If you rent we check your pet policy. Bring your pet policy with you; as that is the quickest way for us to check. Once that clears, all you would need to do is fill out an adoption contract and pay their adoption fee. They would go home with you after that! If you are adopting a cat, you are welcome to bring your own carrier with you. We do have carriers to borrow or cardboard boxes to send home with you if you do not have one. If you are adopting a dog, you are welcome to bring your own leash and collar. We do have leashes and collars to send home with you as well. Holds We offer holds over the phone and in-person. The hold fee is $50 and is non-refundable. Holds over the phone are for 24 hours and holds in-person are for 48 hours.
