Cloe's Story

Personality: Big teddy bear who loves to snuggle! She has an impulsive/reactive streak and training has helped her tremendously!

Education: Good with bathroom and leash training

Favorite Activities: Loves to snuggle up and chill out with her people, sunbathe, and play with her squeaky toys!

Looking For: A patient, loving home with only adults and as an only dog or with a very calm large dog. A secure fenced in yard would be great to limit her walks outside and help with restraining her impulsive nature.

Special Needs/Concerns: Trial foster-to-adopt period for her to ensure that they are all a perfect fit! If adopted, TAP will provide weekly private training work on Cloe's needs free of charge by a certified trainer she is presently working with.

Bio: Your ultimate companion!

Hi, there! My name is Cloe, and I'm a spayed 9-year-old Shepherd mix. I'm a big gal, weighing in at 80 pounds.

Sadly, I've had a pretty painful past. I was relinquished from my previous home due to fighting with another doggie who lived there. Since then, I have been repeatedly passed over by fosters and adopters, as no one has been willing to take a chance on me. I was scheduled to get euthanized, but thankfully, TAP rescued me just in time!

My foster mama says I'm just a big ol' teddy bear with lots of love to give, and I'm actually a pretty chill girl once you get to know me. I'm calm and confident around the house, and all I really want to do is snuggle, sunbathe, and spend time with my people. Not only am I house-trained, but I'm potty-trained and leash-trained, too, with absolutely no separation anxiety when you leave. My biggest challenge, though, is managing my impulses, since I have a strong desire to go after small animals and have trouble staying focused and maintaining my manners when in public. However, I recently finished a board-and-train program, and my reactivity/impulsivity has improved greatly! I'd love to be able to keep up my progress with continued training sessions. Since I am a very special girl, looking for a very special home, I would love to do a trial period first, before adoption.

Ultimately, I'm a really sweet and gentle girl with a huge heart, and I'd make an amazing companion for someone who works from home. I'd prefer to be the only dog in the house, but I'd also be fine with another large doggie(my size or bigger), as long as he/she was calm like me. Absolutely no cats, though (since I have a strong prey drive), and preferably no small children. I'd also love a secure, fenced-in yard, so that the need for public walks would be limited and my impulsive nature wouldn't be put to the test. Other than that, though, my biggest request is simply to be loved.

My adoption fee includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please apply!

The Animal Pad's Adoption Policy
We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane. Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational. All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times. All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise. Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000. Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc. Adoption Application: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/
