CLEO **video!**'s Story

Meet Cleo, a 6 month old, 20 pound, Pembroke Welsh Corgi with a big personality!

Cleo’s foster mom defines her as a “little big dog”. Confident, fast, and agile. Cleo is smart and a quick learner, but can be stubborn so needs an involved owner who is going to stay on top of things and follow through with her training.

Speaking of on top of things...Cleo LOVES to climb and jump! It's important to set clear boundaries with her so she knows what's off limits and what is safe.

Things we LOVE about this dog... Cleo is resilient. She can take a correction and then comes right back to be your buddy. No hard feelings! Also, Cleo has a GREAT recall. This is something that can be difficult to instill in some dogs. Not Cleo! Call her name and she comes a running, which we always reward and praise. Good girl, Cleo!

If you have never had a corgi before, please educate yourself on the breed before applying. Cleo's original family left her at a rural shelter because she was herding and nipping at the children. Hello? This is a corgi, a herding breed!

Cleo is now crate trained and housetrained. She sleeps quietly in her crate at night. Cleo gets along with other dogs, but can be pushy. She's living with both big and small dogs right now. Cleo is possessive of food so when it's meal time, Cleo's foster mom has her wait in her crate for breakfast to be served. If you don't have any other dogs this will not be a problem for you.

Cleo has the potential to get along with cats if they don't run, although her foster mom's cat is a little put off by Cleo's big energy.

Cleo is learning basic obedience and will need someone committed to helping her navigate this journey. This includes walking on leash. A beginner's obedience class and a dedicated human would be perfect for this youngster.

Does Cleo sound like a lot of dog? Well, that's good because she is! Adopt Cleo and your life will never be boring again. Have you thought of doing dog sports, but not with a corgi? Cleo will change your mind.

Cleo's adoption fee is $350 and includes vaccinations, microchip and spay.

If you are interested in possibly meeting Cleo, please complete an application located here:

https://idawg.org/application.html
