Cleo's Story

Hi, my name is CLEO! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Timid, Sensitive, Sweetheart
-Can Live with Kids: No thanks! Visitors and home traffic are a huge anxiety trigger for Cleo. A quiet home would be ideal.
-Can Live with Cats: Unknown History. SLOW & SUPERVISED introductions always recommended.
-Can Live with Dogs: Potentially with the right match - Cleo is a sensitive senior gal who'd prefer to be left alone. No rowdy/rambunctious pups and a solo dog home may be preferable for her to soak up all the love you have to give.
-Can do Apartment Living: No thanks - a high traffic area (inside or outside the home) makes Cleo very anxious and uneasy.
-Potty Trained: Appears to be!
-Bite History: Nope.
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Nope.
-Energy Level: Medium
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Nope, good to go

Meet Cleo, a gentle seven-year-old mixed breed with a tender heart and a world of potential. Cleo is a sensitive lady who is searching for a quiet, calm home where she can finally unwind, feel secure, and enjoy a peaceful, predictable routine. While she is not overly affectionate right off the bat, her thoughtful nature just means she likes to take her time getting to know you. We fully believe that once she builds trust and deeply bonds with her new family, she will open up and shower you with all the loyalty and warmth she has to offer. Cleo is as clever as she is sweet, coming to you with amazing foundational training skills that she loves to show off. Her absolute favorite pastime is playing "find it" give her a puzzle or hide a favorite treat, and she will happily put her powerful sniffer to work to solve the mystery. It is a fantastic, low-key game that engages her impressive brain and builds confidence. Cleo would thrive in a serene, patient environment where she is given the space to flourish at her own pace. If you have a peaceful home and are ready to earn the deep, rewarding love of a truly special dog, Cleo is waiting to meet you.

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
