Clayton's Story

Clayton came to us with four littermates from a municipal shelter. These puppies are all super sweet and smart. They love other dogs and have been around children while in foster care. It is estimated that they will be around 50 lbs when fully grown, but that is just a guess since they came in without parents. Due to their age, they will need further work on potty training, crate training, as well as basic skills like walking on a leash.<br/>**Clayton was previously diagnosed with Babesia in March while hospitalized for complications from a severe intestinal parasite infection. He has shown no\ clinical signs of babesia while in our care after he was treated for his intestinal parasite. Treatment for Babesia can be intensive and have significant side effects so it was elected to not pursue it at this time. The disease can be spread to other dogs through tick bites or direct bites between dogs. Because of this, it is important that strict tick prevention is provided to Clayton and that he is not allowed to bite another dog with the breaking of the skin unless testing is performed to show that there is no current infection in his blood stream. This can be performed through a variety of testing options provided by a licensed veterinarian.

Faithful Friends Pet Rescue and Rehoming's Adoption Policy
We are setting up adoptions with approved adopters on an appointment basis during this COVID-19 crisis. We are no longer hosting adoption events at PetSmart until further notice. We are not arranging meet and greets; but appointments to finalize adoptions to limit exposure for all. Our adoptions come with a one week trial period in which if things are not working out, we will refund your adoption fee if you decide to return your newly adopted Faithful Friend. Our adoptions must be done in person at PetSmart (3736 SW Archer Rd, Gainesville, FL 32608) and we do not arrange transport to adopters. Our adoption fees vary and we are only able to accept payments by card at this time but include spay/neuter, heartworm test (dogs), FeLV/FIV test (cats), age appropriate vaccines and deworming, flea, tick and heartworm medication and microchip.
