He enjoys spending time outdoors, playing with other dogs, and going on walks. He does well with both male and female dogs, and generally plays appropriately, though he is still learning to recognize when playtime has ended.

Clark is comfortable riding in the car and is familiar with crate time. He knows the command “sit” and walks reasonably well on leash, with continued training recommended to improve his leash manners. He is adaptable and would do well in a variety of home environments with consistent structure and guidance.

As a typical adolescent dog, Clark is still developing impulse control. He can be mouthy, may jump on people, and requires appropriate chew items, as he can be destructive when left without enrichment. He is known to counter surf, so a home that practices good management is important.

Clark would be best suited for a home with adopters who are prepared to continue his training and provide regular exercise, mental stimulation, and clear boundaries. We are not sure how Clark would do with small children. With consistency and ongoing training, Clark has the potential to become a well-mannered and devoted companion. -A Special Note about Clark- Clark has a heart murmur that he will not outgrow.

— A Special Note about Clark —

Clark initally presented with a heart murmur and further evaluation revealed that he has dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). We are following up to better understand the cause of his condition, but Clark’s care will require heart medication (Pimobendan), supplements, and regular echocardiograms.
