Clarice's Story

Hi my name is Clarice. My nickname is Clar Bear. I'm a 3-year-old, 10 pound Chihuahua mix. I'm healthy, athletic, and dog friendly. I love cuddles and kisses.

I do need a moment to warm up to strangers. I get scared when strangers come into the house. I bark at them until they sit down and allow me to approach them for attention. My confidence should get better over time.

I love toys, especially squeaky toys. The more toys the better. I will play by myself or play fetch or tug of war with my foster mom.

I like playing with all dogs and can keep up with the big ones. However, my foster sisters find me a bit pushy. They are older small dogs with less energy so they find me a little overwhelming. I just want to play. My foster mom is teaching me to be gentle and not too pushy. I'm told I'm doing better now at this task.

I am very smart and willing to learn especially if treats are involved. My foster mom has taught me to sit, stay, come, wait, off, be calm and no. I don't like the no command so I may test you a little bit. In the end I will listen but thats no fun.

We are currently learning down stay command, how to behave in public, and how to behave in car rides.

I am potty trained and crate trained. I walk well on a leash or harness. I am comfortable with bathing, brushing, and toe nail clipping.

My foster mom says I would do well in most family settings. Families with older children, singles, couples, and active elders. A family with other dogs would be nice because I love having playmates. Do I sound like your next best friend?

Interested in adopting?
