Claire-ADOPTED!'s Story

Claire is a 10 month old GSD mix - there is probably a little retriever or setter in her background. Her brother got adopted almost right away and that was hard for her. Then she made friends with two other pups in her foster home and they left and she was very depressed. While Claire continues to play with the other dogs and enjoys their company, she has become more independent and can entertain herself if necessary.

Claire was absolutely starved for attention when she first came to us- in her mind there was no such thing as enough. She has settled down since coming to her foster home. She is a cuddler and will settle down with her head resting on you - whether it's your foot when you are standing or your leg when your sitting. Even on the ride from the shelter, she stuck her head between the front seats and rested her head on her foster mom's arm.

Claire has grown into a 55 lbs. girl and will probably top out around 60 lbs. She is very sweet natured and likes hanging out with you. She loves her toys and can usually be found with a bone, tug, ball or Frisbee in her mouth. Claire is very athletic and is an expert at climbing chainlink - so she will need good fences or something other than chainlink. She doesn't go anywhere - she just likes to be wherever you are and she is one of our official greeters when we have visitors.

Claire is housebroken, walks fairly well on a leash and rides calmly in the car - once you get her in there. She is playful and loving and a great companion for either an active family or individual.

We require that all potential adopters submit a pre-adoption application before we can arrange for them to meet any of our dogs. The format for the application is located at the bottom of our homepage (goodshepherd.petfinder.org)

We keep our website very current and remove dogs if they are adopted or have an adoption pending as we realize how disappointing it is to think you've found the perfect companion only to learn they are no longer available. If a dog is listed on our "Adoptable Pets" page, we are currently accepting applications for their adoption.
