Claire's Story

Claire is a 3 year old female pocket GSP. She is sweet, intensely people oriented, and wired exactly the way GSP fans expect. High drive, high energy, and very affectionate once she bonds.

Her foster home has nicknamed her "The Little Mermaid" because she "wants to be where the people are." If you are moving around the house, Claire will be right there with you.

Claire was displaced by a house fire. She spent much of her life loved in a home environment and did not thrive in a shelter setting. She is clearly happiest when she is part of a family again.

Personality and Temperament

Claire is extremely driven and athletic. She thrives on activity, structure, and real engagement with her humans. She adores children and seeks out attention and affection from her people.

This is not a couch potato. Claire needs a home that understands the GSP brain and is prepared to provide consistent exercise, mental stimulation, and clear boundaries.

Other Animals

Claire has lived with another GSP and three Chihuahuas without issue. That said, she is currently having a harder time settling with the other dog in her foster home, so thoughtful introductions and realistic expectations are important.

Claire should not be placed in a home with cats. She has a strong prey drive and is not safe around them.

Training and Background

Claire is highly driven and has been allowed to free run in fields to chase game. She could benefit from some refresher training on recall. Her exposure to guns is unknown.

She is athletic and agile and will clear a baby gate with no issue. She can also jump a 4 foot fence, so secure containment and supervision are required.

Medical

Claire has a fused rear knee resulting from being hit by a car as a young puppy. This does not currently cause her pain, and her veterinarian has advised leaving it alone unless symptoms develop. She is otherwise healthy.

Interested in Claire?

If you think Claire might be the right match for your home, please complete an adoption application here: ADOPT ME.
