Claire's Story
BASIC FACTS

Breed: Bichon Frise
Color: White
Age: 3 years old
Gender: Female, spayed
Size: Small, 13 pounds
House-trained: Yes (uses pee pads, does well going outside with a schedule)
Crate trained: Yes (loves her crate & uses it as her safe space)
Good with Kids: Yes
Good with Dogs: Yes
Good with Cats: Yes
Concerns: Shy and skittish, will need a patient adopter

BIOGRAPHY

Meet Claire!

Claire came into rescue as a puppy mill survivor. She had been purchased by a private owner who could not afford the veterinary care she needed. Claire came to us with a bladder full of large stones and needed immediate surgery.

She is extremely sweet and mild mannered but still skittish as she is introduced to new people and situations. She rides well in the car and loves to play with other dogs/puppies. Her foster home is very low key and has an senior companion dog who doesn’t engage with her and Claire is very conscientious around Willow. She had her first grooming and did well.

Claire needs a home where she can grow into her own and learn trust and feel safe. We think Her new home must have at least one other dog. Puppy mill survivors usually do best with other dogs so they can teach them what it’s like to “dog.”. She is just learning to walk on a leash (at this point she just stands but she’ll get there!) and she isn’t sure what to do with toys yet.

Claire does not know how to walk on a leash yet, so a fenced in yard is REQUIRED. She also had surgery to remove bladder stones, so she will need to remain on a prescription diet all her life to prevent future stones.

Claire is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and
heartworm negative. She is being fostered in North Canton, OH
and is available for an adoption fee of $400.00.

If you are interested in adopting, please submit an application
online at www.sophiasgracefoundation.org ***Petfinder/
RescueMe inquiries are NOT considered applications and may
not be responded to***
