CITY's Story
Meet CITY!

City the Pittie may look tough, but he is as soft as ice cream on a warm summer day.

And by the looks of him today, you’d never guess the hard start he had in life— first appearing in our care after being abandoned by his owners at the hospital where he arrived skinny and weak… and was eventually diagnosed with a severe bowel obstruction. Thanks to a fast and successful fundraiser he underwent emergency surgery to remove a whole dishtowel, likely eaten out of desperation.

Thanks to the incredible medical team at Penn and a place to heal with his fosters, he made a full recovery.

Now, this healthy 70lb boy is your friendly land hippo, spending most of his time snoozing or tracing your every step like the little shadow he is.

While he’ll happily sleep the day away, he will never say no to playtime, walks, car rides or literally anything, with anyone. He is dog friendly, adult friendly and kid friendly. In fact, he loves people and pups so much, he is still working on containing his excitement. Due to his enthusiasm, we recommend kids over the age of 12 and no cats, as he is a little too eager with them.

He will also need someone committed to working on his energy levels when it comes to leash reactivity. This fella doesn’t have a mean bone in his body and just needs someone who is willing to support slow and steady introductions to manage his excitement.

Other than that, he is about as perfect of a beefy little potato as they come (per his long term foster and literally anyone who meets him, which is every passing stranger on the street or houseguest). He is house trained, crate trained and has excelled with his general training in a short time. He’s learned to politely wait for his food and various commands like stopping at crosswalks. Due to his food motivation, he would easily continue to thrive with ongoing training.

He is all love and asks for very little. Just a soft bed to land on and your companionship. In return, you’ll get a best friend who adorns your every step…just be careful not to trip over him 😅.

We would love to see City go home to a furry friend and ideally away from the hustle and bustle of the city (ironic, we know). But with the right family, this guy would truly settle at home in any home.

Come meet this beautiful pup and see for yourself :)

If interested please contact Christine at christine@therescueexpress.org
