Cisco's Story

**WE DO NOT RESPOND TO APPLICATIONS MADE ON PETFINDER. YOU MUST APPLY ON OUR LINK WHICH IS BELOW**

Cisco is a handsome blue merle schnauzer mix who is about 3 years old. Cisco is a sweet, loyal, and playful dog who forms strong bonds with his people and thrives on companionship. Cisco requires an experienced, patient owner who is committed to training and providing structure. He has an incredible amount of energy—more than any small dog his foster has seen—and is always ready to play, wrestle, and run.

He would do best in a home with another high-energy dog or an active owner who can keep up with his needs. Because of his playful, energetic nature, he may overwhelm older or more low-key dogs. He would also likely do well as an only dog, but only if his owner will be very active and committed to giving him plenty of exercise and engagement. He can settle and relax under a desk while his person works from home, but he does struggle when left alone and can become vocal.

As he’s become more comfortable in his foster home, he’s also become more reactive to his surroundings. He will bark at people and dogs passing by and can get especially worked up when he sees other dogs or fast-moving things like bicycles, sometimes lunging in excitement or frustration while on walks.

Cisco still has some puppy-like behaviors and isn’t ready to have full freedom in the home. He will chew on things, bring in mulch and sticks from outside, and grab items off the floor (he especially loves socks). He will benefit greatly from continued training to help with both manners and confidence.

He does get anxious in the car and may cry during rides, so he will need patience and potentially a booster seat to see out the window and a seatbelt attachment to connect to his harness in order to keep him from climbing on his person while driving. He will need continued exposure to help build his confidence.

Because of his energy level and reactivity, Cisco requires a home with a secure fenced yard where he can run and burn off energy. He would not be a good fit for apartments or homes with shared walls, as he can be vocal and reactive to outside activity.

With the right owner who is consistent, active, and willing to invest in training, Cisco has a lot of potential and will make a fun, engaging companion.

Cisco's adoption fee is $450, and he is neutered, up to date on shots, and microchipped. He does have a few skin bumps/warts and could benefit from a routine dental cleaning, both of which are common and manageable.

Apply here: https://tinyurl.com/4u3tuy5c
-Due to the high volume of applications, our Adoption Coordinator will only contact the applicant that best meets the needs of the pet.
