Cindy Lou Who's Story
- No doggie doors
- Needs a small doggie playmate
- Needs a securely fenced yard

Estimated DOB: 1/29/2024
Weight: 12#

Cindy Lou Who is vaccinated, dewormed, defleaed, spayed, microchipped with lifetime registration to the rescue, heartworm negative (3/18/2025) and on monthly prevention, etc.

She was running the streets for months. Noone was actively trying to get her safe. So, I kept a map of sighting locations. She would stick around the same general area and visit businesses looking for food/water. That means that she was hiding out somewhere that she deemed safe. After realizing that she would hide in a construction yard, a rescue friend was able to setup a trap and caught her within an hour. She was finally safe!

Then the real work started as she was clearly in "flight mode" for so long. It took several months of her dragging a leash before she would have anything to do with me. I would have to pay her no attention while outside and casually step on the leash to be able to bring her inside from going potty. She still isn't too sure about coming inside the backdoor on her own. But she happily runs to me and jumps in my arms to be picked up and carried inside when potty and play time is over.

She's pretty well crate trained and expects to get a treat once she goes inside. If you're gone for 10 hours, she's not the dog for you though. She's only 1 year old and needs to potty a little more frequently than some of the adult fosters.

She is very well tempered and isn't remotely aggressive. But she does have a decent amount of puppy energy and can play a bit rough at times. She gets along with everyone and has the cutest personality. She does annoy some of the older fosters trying to get them to play. But is happy zooming around with the younger fosters. She would do best with another playful small dog.

We haven't attempted leash training so she needs a securely fenced yard to play and potty. She's good in the car. A little anxious at the vet. Fairly quiet. She hasn't been a big barker.

She would make an amazing dog for a home that is familiar with rescue dogs and
allow her to acclimate at her own pace. She's totally happy and spunky here now. But she may be more timid once going to a new home, no way for me to know.

So, her new home should of course be understanding and patient as she learns to acclimate to a new environment and routine. But with a little effort and training, she will be an amazing dog!

If you are interested in adopting, please cut and paste the link below to fill out an adoption application:

https://form.jotform.com/92916416469165

After the application is processed and approved, a home visit and meet and greet with the dogs will be scheduled. If there are any fencing issues, make sure that repairs are done prior to the home visit. Typically, the adoption is finalized the day after the home visit and meet and greet. Out of area adopters would need to drive/fly in to meet the dogs and adopt.
