Chuck's Story
A RECENT DOGVENTURE REPORT:

Chuck comes with his "Good-Boy" software fully downloaded AND the elusive herding dog "off-switch" pre-installed. He is sweet, attentive, quiet, and SMART. He knows sit, shake, lay down, and can probably learn to change a tire or do your taxes. He'll need a job, so he came to work with me to build his resume and this is what we learned:

Here are some of the ways Chuck sees the world:
Cats = Friends that need extra personal space
Little Dogs = Friends! even if they are annoying
Horses = Big Friends that want to play!
People = Friends, they're all great
Car Rides = Still scary; getting in is the hardest part
Stairs = very weird, not a fan
Houseplants= worth trying a bite of, especially if you're bored

Once we burned some energy exploring he was happy to lay in the office or even sit/lay next to me while I worked outside. He pulls on leash but off leash he stayed close. Chuck is also all business with potty-time - no leg lifting or constant stopping to mark.

He did fantastic with our dog-savvy cat- he approached calmly but gave the cat space and left it alone without having to be instructed. He showed great restraint around horses and livestock - no urge to bark or chase, but did get very excited when horses approached him (can't blame him for that). With some more exposure and training he'd easily be horse-approved.

He is a total package - brains, heart, maturity, and dashing good looks. He seems to be all the "goods" of a BC mix and didn't really display any of the typical drawbacks (noise reactivity, fixations, uncontrollable tasmanian devil type energy). An adopter who knows how to keep working breeds stimulated will end up with an incredible, reliable best-friend.
