Chowder's Story

Okay, you HAVE to meet Chowder. 🥹

Listen. I met this dog and I cannot stop thinking about him. He's a 6-year-old Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix and his whole face is basically one giant smile — like, look at him. *Look.* That's not a normal amount of joy for one small dog to contain.

Here's the deal with Chowder: he's a little shy when you first meet him (he's polite like that), but give him five minutes and suddenly he's your best friend in the world. It's honestly kind of an honor.

He LOVES other dogs. Not in a "tolerates them" way — in a "oh my god a friend!!" way. So if you've already got a dog, congratulations, you've just found their new sibling. If you don't, the dog park is about to become his happy place.

Walks? He's a pro. Easy on leash, no drama, just a happy little guy trotting along enjoying his life. Crate trained too, so he's got his life together more than most of us.

But here's the thing that really got me — the second you sit down, this dog is in your lap. Done. That's the whole plan. He's an adventurer outside and an absolute mush inside. He has also apparently scouted and approved approximately seventeen nap locations throughout his foster home, because a guy needs options. He's got a whole rotation. It's very serious business.

He's obsessed with his soft toys (the squeakier the better, sorry in advance), he warms up fast, and he just genuinely seems thrilled to be a dog. Honestly? We should all aspire to Chowder's energy.

He's ready to find his person. Could be you. Should probably be you. Come meet him.

Please fill out an application and meet him https://www.welcomehomesanctuary.org/adoption-application
